HOW AM I GONNA BE AN OPTIMIST ABOUT THIS? the pink haired woman braced herself for the sudden jerk of the ship to the side. the booming sounds of the firing cannons, along with her own devil fruit assisting her in steering the ship, managed to help them in moving the ship onto the right path. no doubt the stress of rotating the wheel would cause some kind of damage to the ship, but that would be work for their shipwright to handle, where ever he was. still, the woman could not help but admire her own skills with a flip of her hair and a pose. no doubt the paparazzi was watching her bravery and expertise from afar. "capture this moment! a star is born!" she shouted to no one as the ship suddenly jerked upwards, following the flow of the mountain stream.
"hang on! once we reach the top, we have to survive the downward fall into the grand line!" she shouted. all the had to do now was avoid the rapids on the way down and keep from crashing into the rocky walls surrounding them.

"OHBABABABABA!!!" Sev roared as The Lisa Marie rocked violently from left to right. "Oi did you see that?!" He announced with his typical thunderous tone as he leaped and balanced himself upon the railing of the ship. "What?!" He leveled his eyes exotic gaze on the trademark coin pinched between his massive fingers. "You serious?!" He rolled the coin through his knuckles and giggled like some schoolgirl who was noticed by his biggest crush. "Don't worry, Bastard, I don't plan on kickin' the bucket just yet! OHBABABABABA!!!" As the pirate vessel was jerked by the mysterious upward stream of the red mountain, Sev leaped from his perch and bestowed his exotic gaze upon the famished Swordsmen. "Fishing? That sounds like a damn good idea, pal! But, ya' know, once we reach the other side of this bad boy, ya' know? Pretty sure ain't no fish surviving this violent current, yeah? OHBABABABABA!!!"

i tried carrying the weight of the world but i only have two hands And they came upon the entrance of the renowned Reverse Mountain, the land feature that was said to carry a river with a reversed current. That is to say, the water climbed upslope instead of down, defying all logic. Cain would blink as he stared upon the mouth of the river, before releasing a scoff. The Grand Line. A sea that defied the laws of physics, and logic. Guess this was just their first of many wondrous sights in the dangerous sea. And their first challenge as well. He brought his right hand, running it through his hair. How did it ever get to this? He never once thought he'd be here, when he was younger. Why would he have left Kirasu, anyway? He was happy there, with friends that stayed by his side, even if they were ridiculously stupid. However, what's done was done, and he had exiled himself from his own home. And at the moment, it seemed that being by Kingston's side offered the most interesting path for him.
Besides, he had a little feud to handle with a particular Marine, and he knew that if he continued down this path of piracy, he'd meet him again sooner or later. As the ship continued to ascend the Reverse Stream, he leaned against the main mast of the ship, using it as support to adapt to the altered angle of the ship. How the other crew mates were able to sleep through this, was a wonder to him.
"hang on! once we reach the top, we have to survive the downward fall into the grand line!"
Cain scoffed once again, as he pulled out another cigarette, his old one having being dropped during his fall back down onto the deck. Placing it in between his lips and cupping one hand around it to prevent it from getting wet, he lit it up and took in a deep inhale.
"Would it be a bad idea if I like... jumped into the ocean to catch some fish? Cause i'm pretty hungry RIGHT now." Cain blinked, as he exhaled his first puff of smoke. He glanced over at Lucas. Seriously? "Fishing? That sounds like a damn good idea, pal! But, ya' know, once we reach the other side of this bad boy, ya' know? Pretty sure ain't no fish surviving this violent current, yeah? OHBABABABABA!!!"
"Oh, please, please, let him fucking jump. Spare us the stupidity. At least he'll be at home there, in terms of brain size." He announced, shaking his head as he furrowed his eyebrows. Then, glancing over his shoulder, towards the bridge, he shot Alice a question of his own.

Honestly? He was feeling pretty good about himself at the moment.
As much as everyone else had worried about getting through the tough times, he'd kept a cool head n' all and everything turned out okay in the end. What, did that mean he was some sort of psychic or something? No... He just didn't think that they were all going to die from something as measly as a bad current or something like that. If he was going to die, it'd probably be to some big shot off in the Grand Line, right? So, equipped with that knowledge but also knowing that it was probable that he'd have to act at any given moment, he took in the words of his mates, deciding whether or not to respond rather easily.
Alice was posing, Sev was agreeing, and Cain was...
Well, Cain was being Cain!
Chuckling at the male's response before pulling away from the railing, Lucas made his way on over to the mast, leaning his back against it. The ol' doc could say what he wanted, but he was still a member of the crew in the end. As much as he disliked the antics they put up, he'd have to deal with it in the long run. "Uuuunderstood, Cain, Capt'n, Alice. Watch out for the drop, no jumping in until we're over, and swim with the fishes-- got it." Nodding with a certain intensity, he kept those orders locked in, storing them in his data banks. Honestly, he was going to do whatever he felt like. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

HOW AM I GONNA BE
AN OPTIMIST ABOUT THIS? though she attempted to inhale a slow, calming breath, alice knew they had reached the peak of reverse mountain. the grand line was merely a drop in front of them, the advent of adventure and infamy and the path to one piece. the navigator knew that the road would be full of toils and snares, yet she had somehow agreed to lead this group to the ends of the world.
the rapids crashed against the sides of the red line, and her calming inhale did never exhaled. she subconsciously held her breath as the ship spiraled downwards through the narrow path, reaching speeds she never thought possible for a ship like theirs. desperately, she held onto the wheel to keep her from being tossed over into the certain death of the waters below.
she looked over to her captain's coin. though she sometimes hated that thing, she was hoped that maybe fate was in their favor.
heads or tails.
life or death.

"Oi! Oi! Oi! Shut-up!" Sev exclaimed to the trademarked coin pinched between his fingers. As the pirate vessel scaled the crimson mountain, he firmly gripped the main railing upon the deck of the ship to keep himself stable through this powerful upward ascension. His physical strength never ceased to amaze the masses and such a feat of raw power would be no different. "A promise is a promise, right?" He adjusted the coin between his fingers skyward until it eclipsed the basking moon overhead. "Yeah, I know. But the ambition of a Kingston is something you can't sleep on. Besides, I ain't gonna' let anything happen to my Nakama, ya' know?" The blubbering giant went silent as the crew reached the top of the bloody mountain. Sev continued to eye the piece of currency pinched between his fingers "Hmmm? Tch, we can't be that hi---" Silence soon ensued as he leveled his amber hues on the descent before them. They were so high, in fact. He couldn't see through the damn clouds! "Yooooo pals and Sheila... We're kinda' hi---..."
'Shut the fuck up, moron.' murmured a little thing known as gravity as the vessel was pulled downward with an insane amount of force.
"OHBABABABABA!!!"
The established captain held the trademark coin in the center of his fist as he lowered his massive arm and balanced himself despite the fact his face hung mere feet away from ravaging waves. With squinting eyes from the insane speed, Sev enjoyed every second of the adrenaline pumping drop. Below the crew waited peaceful waters, but from this height, speed, and overall eerie atmosphere from the Grand-Line itself. The waters resembled that of a open maw waiting to swallow them whole; waiting to end their adventure before it even begin.

i tried carrying the weight of the world but i only have two hands No answer? He raised an eyebrow, staring up at Alice. He clicked his tongue in annoyance, as he pushed himself off the mast, turning to face the woman fully. And with slightly bent knees in order to keep his balance, he took a few steps towards her. "Oi, Alice! I'm talking to y--"
He would be silenced, however, as Kingston suddenly yelled out, his voice overpowering the sound of the current and the wind easily. "Oi! Oi! Oi! Shut-up!" Cain flinched. "What did you say to me?" He hissed as he glanced over his shoulder, at Kingston. He had thought that his words had been directed towards him, but clear observation made it known that the large man of a captain was actually talking to that coin of his. That bloody coin that made the man so intriguing, to the point Cain had chosen to follow him, even if he didn't outright admit it.
He groaned, as he brought his cigarette up to his lips, turning to face the bow of the ship instead, abandoning his mission to question Alice. Just as the cigarette found his lips, though, the ship would suddenly slow down, causing Cain to stagger a step forward. His eyes widened. What? The ship would continue to slow, and for a moment, Cain felt as if they were floating. A roll of his eyes to the side then gave him that answer.
They were indeed floating.
Temporarily.
Gravity decided to be a bitch afterwards. Cain gritted his teeth as he found his feet parting from the ground, and he bent his knees, trying to lower his center of gravity. "Fuck." He muttered as the cigarette slipped from his lips, and his body was left behind the ship. Had his reflexes not kick in, he would have failed to grab hold of the main mast, he would have been left behind in the air. He pulled himself downwards, finding himself squatting upon the main mast as they hit water once again. The impact almost caused him to slip off, as he quickly made his way upon the crow's nest. "Dammit, I wasted another cigarette!" He cursed outwards, as he swung his arms in the air.
And that was when he realized the route that they were sailing upon. It was steep and downwards, and they were moving fast. A lot faster than they did when the current brought them up the mountain.

The moment they hit the peak, he knew something was wrong. Still, acting as though it wasn't any big deal as he kept that smile on his features, he spared glances left and right, trying to see what was going on. "Whaaat? What's the problem guys—" He found out in that moment, and many afterwards. Feet leaving the deck for what seemed to be a split second, that seemed to be all it took for him to take in the severity of the situation at hand. His back already pressed against the mast— though he found himself sliding across its now slick surface, he crashed into the lower walls of the upper deck, entire form retching.
"What the fuck Alice?! Can't you steer thi—" Air pressure literally slapping him in the face and leaving him where he was— looking like a fool with his limbs spread apart and mouth opened wide in what appeared to be a silent scream, he found his words lost to apparently deaf ears. He couldn't speak, let alone even make an attempt to peel himself off the wall. For the moment, he was stuck, and even then he didn't know if any change in position of the ship would fling him off the side to his death.
He hadn't earlier realized the severity of what Alice had been talking about, but now he did entirely. So, he tried to rectify 'some' things. "Are we there yet?!" CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

HOW AM I GONNA BE
AN OPTIMIST ABOUT THIS? opening her tightly shut eyes, alice stood in wonder, if only for a moment, surrounded by clouds in the sky above. had they died? was this feeling of weightlessness their bodies leaving the earth and ascending into the afterlife?
the sudden drop of gravity reminded her that her time had not yet come, though safety had not yet reached them. with a crash, the ship fell back into the rapid descending waters. with a scream, she gripped onto the wheel tightly. there was little use in trying to steer the ship now, the waters were far too strong and fast to fight against it. "forget about your cigarette, you back alley quack!" she shouted at cain's dismay of losing another cancer stick.
and almost as soon as it began, it was over. the lisa marie stood still in the ocean ahead, and alice relaxed her body. "we made it." she said, dumbfounded at the idea, "we're in the grand line!" she laughed incredulously, still reeling from the surge of adrenaline. she turned to face the rest of the crew, her smile still beaming from their survival.
and though her first sight was of her captain, laughing with his damn coin, cain as he scoffed at the inconvenience of the rapids, and the swordsman lucas, still as goofy as ever, though finally realizing their danger, her eyes fell upon a rapidly approaching vessel further out at sea, charging directly towards them, not giving them even a moment of rest after their adventure down the mountains.

SPLASH! The Pirate vessel somehow made it through the suicidal drop; the salty sea water cascading down upon the crew from the ship swallowing descent. "Oiiiii...." Sev found himself peering skyward towards the glowing moon. "We made it, right? Like we didn't die, yeah?" He voiced loud enough for the other buccaneers to hear and hopefully answer. With a grunt, he slowly picked himself up and staggered to the bow of the ship. "Yooooo, we aren't dead!" He roared; typical Sev esque laughter ensued shortly afterwards. "OHBABABABABA!!! Looks like lady luck is on our side, ey', Bastard?" He leveled his exotic hues on the coin rolling through his scarred knuckles. "What?" The Captain asked the coin as he ceased the dexterous actions for a moment. "Yeah, well we got pink sheila on the wheel so whats the problem?" He was referring to Alice. "Oi, come on now! She ain't that bad at navigatin'!" Sev attempted to defend the female with a stern voice. "Sure, we got lost once, but we both know that was particularly my fault. Should've never been chasin' after that Sea-King, yeah? OHBABABABABA!!!" With thunderous laughter he flipped the coin and snatched it out of the air swiftly. "How you gonna' say that about her, huh? Whatcha' know about her sex life, hm? For all we know she could be a n--....." Sev fixated his almond gaze upon the bellowing Navigator before looking out at sea where a brigade of Marines were inbound. "Oi! Looks like we get a welcoming party, yeah? OHBABABABABA!!!" Anticipation coursed through his herculean physique as he leaped upon the railing and balanced himself as he stood tall and proud. "Raise the flag, pals and sheila. Let em' know The Fortune Pirates are gettin' through or are gonna' die tryin'." He grinned; hardly able to contain the sudden surge of excitement.

you can follow THEM TO HELL "MARINES!"
Quinn, suddenly wide awake, shot up from bed completely alert. Though, she wasn't exactly in her bed. The little trip the crew had made to the Grand Line left things a little out of sorts. It took her a few moments, but the disheveled cook managed to untangle herself from her bed sheets. "OI!" She yelled from below deck, not caring if anyone heard her. "I'M COMING ON UP!" This served as more of a warning for her comrades, provided that could even hear her, rather than reassurance.
Not bothering to change out of the striped pajama shorts and grey tank-top, Quinn focused on arming herself with supplies from her gun locker. During the time she spent on board the Lisa Marie, she'd amassed herself quite a lovely collection of fire arms. Aside from the food, they were the only other thing that she was so dangerously meticulous about, so they were locked up and strapped up safely and tight, not having been disturbed much in the midst chaos. Her standard pistols were shoved into the holster she always slept in, a large shotgun and a sniper rifle strapped to her back. Satisfied with the heat she was packing, Quinn ascended to the deck of the Lisa Marie to join her fellow crew members.
"How're we gonna do this?"

i tried carrying the weight of the world but i only have two hands "forget about your cigarette, you back alley quack!"
Oh, Cain definitely heard that. Dragging himself to the side of the crow's nest, he looked over towards the bridge, pointing towards the pink-haired brat. With a growl, furrowed eyebrows and red burning eyes, the man decided to throw his comeback.
"Speak for yourself, you delu--" Before he could finish, though, inertia would take gravity's position as the day's problem, and pull Cain back into the opposite end of the crow's nest. The ship had reached the bottom of the mountain, and the sudden stop had caused Cain to be thrown forward. He was lucky. Any higher, and he would have fallen off the crow's nest and into the water. Instead, fortune decided to throw him back-first into it. And there the doctor sat, frowning and limp as his back started to ache. Now he knew what Kingston felt. Well, not to that level, definitely, but somewhere close to it.
He took a deep breathe, before glancing up over the edge of the crow's nest, witnessing the Reverse Mountain's red slopes, as it reached up past the clouds. Had they really dropped that high? It was a wonder that the ship had survived. He took a deep breathe, before slowly reaching up, grabbing the edge of the crow's nest. She may be delusional, and annoying, but he had to admit, no one steered and controlled the ship better than Alice could. He placed his other hand on his back, as he slowly got up onto his feet. Oh yeah, he was going to feel that in the morning. And despite having saved their lives, Cain was not going to let Alice go without a word or two.
"MARINES!"
And everything, everything just disappeared. The pain in his back. The frustration towards their navigator. Everything. He turned his body, as he faced the approaching vessel. It was no secret to the crew members that Cain had a strong hatred for the Marines. "Raise the flag, pals and sheila. Let em' know The Fortune Pirates are gettin' through or are gonna' die tryin'." Cain smirked. Now, if there was one thing Cain agreed with the others on, it would be the beating these assholes down. He turned around, and grabbed the rope that allowed the flag the ascend and descend the main mast. Leaping off the crow's nest with renewed energy, like the monkey that he was often compared to, he swung down towards Kingston's direction.
"OI!" He called out to the captain. Though Cain's relationship with his crewmates was rocky at best, the times they had spent together across the seas had nonetheless developed a powerful bond between them. Trust.
And Kingston would grab the doctor, using the momentum from the swing itself to throw the black-haired male up into the air, towards the nearest of the Marine brigade. Cain stretched all four of his limbs out, a wide grin on his face as he descended upon the shocked Marines. Who would have expected the pirate's first attack would be their doctor himself? Cain landed on an unfortunate rifleman, rolling over him before taking out another with a rising uppercut from his roll.
And with that, the once-street thug began to wreck havoc upon the Marine ship, his unorthodox fighting style allowing him to get the better of the fighting force, despite taking a few hits himself.

MARINES!
Entirely consious of her words and drawing himself to his feet, he barely took notice of Quinn's arrival. Rather, focusing entirely on the vessel opposite of them, Lucas set his gaze straight up onto their captain. Big man, big arms, long distance. Grin apparent on his features as he headed on in Sev's direction with no time at all, he-- wait, what was Cain doing? Eyes widening as his plan was stolen right in front of his eyes, he seemed to cry out in anguish and exasperation,
"Hey, that's my job!"
Clearly peeved and feeling a bit betrayed by Cain's actions, Lucas didn't stop to think for another second. Jumping onto the railing of the ship right next to Sev, Lucas bent himself down to his knees, literally jumping off and going as far as he could before diving into the ocean. Strokes kept strong and wide before he touched side, he scaled on up in what appeared to be no time at all, hopping onto enemy deck.
And then, he waved back to the crew.
Just barely ducking away from a blow aimed to catch the back of his head, he lashed out with his open right palm, making contact with some poor sap's chest. Did the big lug go down, though? Not at all. Then again, that just made things more interesting! CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

AN OPTIMIST ABOUT THIS? the crew she had joined were all fucking idiots.
no sooner had she called out for them to be wary of the oncoming marine threat than her crew literally leaped and swam over to the marine boat to siege an attack.... before the marines did a single thing against them. "YOU IDIOTS! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" their chef, quinn martell, finally made her appearance, just in time to (hopefully) give some voice of reason to the bloodthirsty men. but it was far too late. cain had already began his assault and lucas had braved the mighty ocean waves to climb the ship and begin his swordless assault.
alice wanted to keep moving, but escape now was impossible given their situation. "captain! what to we do?" she asked, but deep down, she knew his response would be to join them in the fight.
