CREW ROLES
fleet admiral ;;the highest rank in the marine hierarchy. the fleet admiral is the single commander of the entire marine army and also the strongest in its ranks. the fleet admiral only answers to the Gorosei, the five men and women who rule the world.
admiral ;;only three people are listed as admirals at any one time. as the second highest rank in the marines, the admirals are some of the most dangerous men and women in the world. along with the fleet admiral, they are the only marines with the ability to initiate a Buster Call, an attack that can completely obliterate an entire island.
vice admiral;;extremely powerful warriors that are roughly on par with the shichibukai in terms of strength. they work underneath the admirals, helping to ensure justice and order throughout the Grand Line. it would be extremely unwise for anyone to take their abilities lightly. all vice admirals are capable of using at least one form of haki. at least five vice admirals are needed to respond to a Buster Call.
rear admiral;;working directly underneath a vice admiral, rear admirals are like their right hand men. they assist vice admirals in their duties and oversee the paperwork and bureaucratic sides of the job. however, they are much more than simply assistants and are powerful fighters in their own right.
commodore ;;overseeing a district of the Grand Line, commodores travel between marine bases to ensure everything is running smoothly. men and women of this rank are often seen sailing the oceans as they travel to and from their various assignments.
captain ;;marine captains are in charge of a specific ship stationed out of a specific base. maintaining order within their region, marine captains are usually at sea, deterring pirates from traveling. they are usually on par with most pirate captains and are formidable opponents. they are equal in power to marine commanders, only differing in being stationed in the ocean rather than on land.
commander ;;marine commanders are in charge of a specific marine base and are stationed there indefinitely. unlike the other ranks which may travel the world, commanders are normally in charge of maintaining the peace on a specific island. they are equal in power to marine captains, only differing in being stationed on land rather than the ocean.
lieutenant ;;this rank works directly beneath a captain or commander, offering support both logistically and physically. while not as strong as those above them, they can easily take out small fry pirates.
ensign;;the lowest rank in the marines, ensigns are foot soldiers and new recruits. eager to prove themselves on the battle, or perhaps just looking for a steady paycheck, they are not the most dangerous of marines, but their large numbers can surround and take down dangerous targets.
